Conference Logistics

The 2023 Mentoring Conference is almost here! We want to share some information to facilitate a seamless navigation of the conference. Please read the information below and follow the steps to assist you in planning your travels.

  1. Conference Schedule: To download the conference schedule visit our Conference Schedule Page. Please, notice that we will open registration on Monday, October 23rd. You are welcome to attend our plenary sessions and lunches scheduled on Monday and Friday, even if you are not registered for a pre/post-conference workshop. 
  2. Pre/Post-conference workshops are NOT included in the standard registration. We still have a few seats available; if interested, please, register no later than October 14 by following the directions below:
    • Make sure you have completed the conference registration form here.
    • Go to the Mentoring Institute Payment Page here.
    • Select the payment method and continue.
    • The total should be $0.00 at this point, and continue by pressing "Add to Cart".
    • For the first option on the next page (standard registration), click "Will not be Attending."
    • Input all remaining information (names, etc.)
    • For the third to last option on this page, click the workshop you would like to attend.
    • Continue to pay.
  3. Conference App: We encourage you to use our conference app, which is available for access through your smartphone, tablet, or computer. With the app, you will be able to:
    • Create your personalized schedule
    • Communicate with other participants
    • Evaluate each session you attend
    To access the app:
    • Download the "Cvent Events" App from your Apple/Android app store (On your Mobile device, open this link (for Apple IOS) or this link (for Android)
    • Search for "16th Annual Mentoring Conference" in the search box provided.
    • Download the app and open it.
    • Once you open the app, you can navigate to your user profile and log into your account by entering your First name, Last name, and Email address. Make sure to use the same email used for your conference registration. A confirmation email with OTP will be sent to the email id. Enter the code to log into your account. Check your spam/junk folder in case you haven't received any email.
  4. Attendance: We encourage you to attend as many presentations as possible; due to travel restrictions in Higher Education, the majority of participants at the conference are also presenting. Please, make every effort to support your colleagues and learn from each other.

  6. Complimentary Lunches will be provided to conference attendees every day from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. If the lunch provided is not to your liking, you can purchase lunch at one of the food vendors in the Student Union Building (SUB). Notice that lunches are not included in your registration fees; they are offered with the assistance of our sponsors, and they are provided on a first-come, first-served basis. 
  7. Courtesy Shuttle Schedules: If you are staying at the Sheraton, there will be a limited number of courtesy shuttles on a first-come, first-served basis. Please, sign in at the front desk during your check-in and try to avoid the last shuttle that might not arrive on time for the first session of the day. You can download the shuttle schedule from our Accommodations Page. No additional shuttles will be provided.  
  8. Parking and public transportation. Parking at UNM is minimal and expensive ($3.50 per hour). For parking options on the UNM campus, visit pats.unm.edu. Public transportation is also limited. Your best options, if not using a shuttle, are Uber or Lyft; however, you might find yourself with no rides available to be on time at the conference.
  9. Conference Hotel Accommodations: Please note that the hotel rate does not include breakfast, and refreshments will be available on a limited basis at 10:00 a.m. Plan ahead to be on time for your shuttle.
  10. Weather and Dress Code. Albuquerque's weather in October is unpredictable and changes abruptly; please, be prepared with a warm jacket for the mornings and evenings. The dress code is business casual.
  11. Registration Table: The registration table will be open for all five days of the conference from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. It will be located on the Main Floor (Level 2) of the Student Union Building, in front of the ballrooms. You will need to walk through the Student Union Building and pass the food court. The registration table will be after the food court to your left.
