A recent NPR story on evidence of discrimination in faculty mentoring noted that "Research found faculty in academic departments linked to more lucrative professions are more likely to discriminate against women and minorities than faculty in fields linked to less lucrative jobs." While the facts behind this story are certainly surprising, it is a reminder that racism is still a very real issue.
